Nestled in Coastal Kenya, Pangani is a unique limestone coral ecosystem that once flourished as a forest haven—teeming with life, beauty, and biodiversity.
Over decades, this precious landscape has faced severe degradation due to maize farming and local mining. Its soils are depleted, its ecosystem fragile. But today, through collaboration and community-led action, the story of Pangani is changing.
At Star Seed, we believe beauty is not just skin-deep. It’s rooted in the soil beneath us, in the communities that care for it, and in the cycles of regeneration that sustain us all.
That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce our 5th regeneration project: Pangani Revival.
Together with our partner, The LEAF, and the incredible Pangani community, we are planting the seeds—literally—of restoration. At the heart of this project is a thriving indigenous tree nursery, cultivated by the community with love, care, and a vision for a greener future.
🌱 Every seed is thoughtfully collected, nurtured into a sapling by local hands, and planted to heal the land.
This is not just about reforesting; it’s about restoring the health of the land, empowering its stewards, and ensuring the survival of biodiversity we all depend on.
With guidance from WWF, the nursery now cultivates over 20 native tree species, each one a step toward revitalising Pangani’s limestone coral forests and the vital ecosystems they support.
WHY PANGANI MATTERS TO US
For Star Seed, this project is deeply personal. Over 70% of the botanicals in our award-winning skincare are sourced from East Africa. The survival of these forests is essential not only to the integrity of our products but to the communities who have cared for these lands for generations.
Smallholder and tribal communities, who make up only 5% of the world’s population, safeguard 80% of its biodiversity. By supporting Pangani, we stand with these communities as they lead the way in regeneration.
Pangani Revival is a testament to the power of collective action—a reminder that we can all play a role in healing the earth.
Through our Regeneration Initiatives we are planting the seeds of hope, and a future where beauty and the planet flourish side by side.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Together, we’re proving that regeneration is possible.
